How long will it take me to pass my test?

There is no set time although the Driving Standards Agency state that the average time taken by a candidate to reach test standard is 45 hours with an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) and 25 hours of private practice.

Learning Curve's aim is to teach you to drive and be able to cope with any situation you may come across after passing your test, so the number of lessons you need will depend upon you and how much practice you have between lessons.

There is a lot to take in when your first start to drive so we suggest that for you start with 1 hour lessons. Once you get familiar with the basic controls in the car, you may find that 2 hour lessons are more appropriate.

At Learning Curve, we believe in giving you value for money. You will get the full one, or two hours in the car. Your lesson will not be cut short by the instructor travelling between lessons. We can also let you choose your pick up and drop of points (Home, school, work etc). The pick up service is door-to-door and there is no car sharing.

Learning Curve can provide:

  • Lessons in a MANUAL transmission tuition car.
  • Lessons to suit individual needs and requirements.
  • Lessons on a one to one basis (i.e. only 1 pupil in the car)
  • Pre-paid courses (at discounted rates)
  • Gift vouchers (an ideal present for Birthdays, Anniversaries or Christmas)
  • Training aids to enable you to pass your theory test.
  • A training record to enable you to keep track of your progress.
  • Pass Plus courses.
  • Refresher courses,  e.g. parking, rural driving etc.
  • Motorway lessons (Not for drivers on a provisional licence)

Below are some of the more commonly asked questions:

    How do I start driving?

You need to be at least 17 years old and have a provisional driving licence which you can apply for up to three months before your 17th birthday. To get a licence, go to the Post Office and collect two application forms - a D1 and a photolicence application D750 form. Send both forms to the DVLA at Swansea along with identification photographs and the required documents.

How many lessons can I do per week?

You will need to start with one hour lessons, then progress to 2 hour lessons as you get more experienced. The number you do per week is entirely up to you. If you do two lessons a week, you should pass your test twice as quickly!

When can I do my lessons in the week?

Our normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 7.00. Although we do tend to do most Saturdays as well.

How long will it take to pass my test?

The national average number of hours to pass your test for a 17 year old, is 45 hours of professional tuition. If you can get some private practice in addition to your lessons, then obviously this should reduce the number of hours required.
